The RMI-USP Joint Education Program in Majuro graduated 17 students during its 19th award ceremony at the Marshall Islands Resort’s Melele Room Tuesday night. The venue was packed beyond comparison with most of the audience standing in the back through the 45-minute event. But with the lively Pacific island dance performances in between the program and the lively speeches from alumni Cutty Wase and Administrator Yolanda McKay, the audience did not mind the cramped situation.
Top student Yolani Jerry delivered the evening’s vote of thanks on behalf of her classmates.
Minister of Education Dr. Hilda Heine pledged her full support to assist USP regardless of where she’ll be posted in the upcoming government. “If I get voted in,” Heine told the crowd.
McKay encouraged the students not to start a family, adding that the program expects a B.A. from the students not a B.A.B.Y.
Wase had the students and the audiences’s attention as he took them down his memory lane eight years ago following his completion of the RMI/USP program.
