The Ministry of Transportation and Communications Division of Maritime Safety through its Port State Control Program collaborated with the Office of the Maritime Administrator (RMI ship registry) and the RMI EPA to host and conduct an advance training to facilitate the implementation of national and international rules on the prevention of pollution from ships.  Participants who attended the workshop included officers from the Ministry of T&C’s Maritime Safety Division, EPA, National Police, Fire and Sea Patrol units, MIMRA, and the Ports Authority.

Port State Control involves the inspection of foreign flagged ships coming into RMI ports, to verify that the condition of the ships and their equipment comply with requirements of international conventions, and that ships are operated in compliance with applicable national and international maritime laws.
