Laura High School laid on a warm welcome for the ACIDIC rock band when it visited the school last week. Staff and students got together to prepare flower leis and the student body government officers were on hand to welcome the group. The band played to a packed auditorium of students, teachers and staff at LHS. The band’s visit was sponsored by the US Embassy. The phrase “Marshall Islands is a bucket list item,” spoken by ACIDIC band lead singer Michael Gossard during a gathering at the US Ambassador’s residence in Long Island last Friday, summed up the Majuro tour. In addition to the Laura High School visit, ACIDIC played concerts in Laura and at Delap Park — the later in drizzling rain that did not keep the crowds away. Hundreds still turned out for the band, despite the rain. Throughout their tour, the rockers shared the same message to students all over the island: find your passion and pursue it.
