The Marshall Islands Red Cross Society and the Ministry of Health and Human Services signed an agreement last week to strengthen and expand teaching of first aid in the RMI.

Red Cross recently completed a training of trainers course, the first in the Pacific islands, and now has a team of certified instructors to deliver first aid training.

Under the agreement between the two organizations, Red Cross will provide 16-hour, eight module training programs in first aid and oversee certification of people qualified to provide first aid services.

The Ministry of Health said it approves and endorses the MIRCS master trainer first aid program, which “will greatly benefit the people of the Marshall Islands.”

The agreement was signed by Minister Kalani Kaneko and Secretary Julia Alfred for the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Alex Pinano, President of the Marshall Islands Red Cross.
