CMI Jaluit ramps up action

College of the Marshall Islands Distance Education Center on Jabor, Jaluit launched community projects over the summer that benefited Adult Basic Education students and the Jabor community.

These included:
• Community water quality testing: A total of 35 homes, businesses, schools and churches were tested around Jabor.
• Community fruit and vegetable gardens: Two gardens were setup in Jabor with the assistance of CMI’s Land Grant. One was setup at the community center and the other at the CMI center inside Jaluit High School campus. Both gardens are maintained by students.
• Building local huts: A local hut was initiated next to the center and the community basketball court. The 16 by nine foot hut was completed.
