It was a cause for a big celebration: The reopening of the new-look 177 Healthcare Clinic at Majuro hospital.
A big turnout for the official reopening ceremony got to tour the newly renovated clinic, which looks fabulous.
The 177 Healthcare Clinic provides healthcare services for the nuclear test-affected communities of Enewetak, Bikini, Rongelap, and Utrok atolls. The reopening event was well attended by people from the different atolls, with singing and dancing a highlight of the day.
The renovation was funded by the US government through the Compact of Free Association and the Interior Department’s Office of Insular Affairs Maintenance Assistance Program.
“The project reflects the continued partnership between the Governments of the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the United States in improving health infrastructure and access to care,” said the Ministry of Health and Human Services in a statement posted to social media.
