Elizabeth Marques is breaking the norm in Majuro with her job as a taxi driver.

Elizabeth says she is on the road to encourage more women to take on the taxi service.

“I understand the risk with being a female behind the wheel,” she told the Journal. “But, women should be open-minded with the idea that we too can be taxi drivers. There’s like only two of us female drivers in Majuro.”

Daisy Alik-Momotaro was once a taxi driver when she was running for the Jaluit Nitijela seat a few years back. Daisy also encourages women to become drivers if they feel like it.
