Rev. Enja Enos was accorded a state funeral at Nitijela shortly after his remains returned to Majuro on Thursday’s United Airlines flight.

Enos died last month on the Big Island of Hawaii from cancer. He was 74.
Enos was the President of the United Church of Christ in the Marshall Islands and chaplain for Nitijela.

Over the years, he had worked with other churches as part of the ecumenical National Council of Churches and was known as a community-minded leader. For many years he was based at Rita Christian Church in Majuro. After taking over as President of the UCC in 2012, he shifted to Uliga Protestant Church, the headquarters for the UCC in the Marshall Islands.

Following the state funeral, he was moved to Uliga Protestant Church for continuing funeral services. He was buried in the Woja area of Majuro March 30.
