Australian Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen visited Majuro in July and among a range of issues on the climate agenda, he discussed a renewable energy partnership with the Marshall Islands.

On the margins of the global climate summit COP30 in Belém, Brazil on 17 November, Minister Bremity Lakjohn and Minister Bowen signed the RMI-Australia Renewable Energy Partnership memorandum of understanding.

The partnership will provide critical capacity-building support for RMI’s energy institutions to navigate and sustain its energy transition, including planned grid-based renewable energy projects, according to the Australian Embassy in Majuro.
