Human remains and munitions were discovered during excavation of the former La Bojie restaurant in Ebeye last week.

Workers found what seemed like a group of skeletons and old rounds coming from a single crevice, forcing work to halt. Police were notified and people were told to keep off the site for safety.

Marshall Islands Police Department officers have been guarding the site since its discovery early last week.

Authorities have requested assistance from the Army base on Kwajalein and were told to stand by for explosive ordnance disposal team.

Archeologist and Cultural and Historic Preservation Officer Wilfred Alik was on site by late last week. He worked alongside USAG-KA counterparts on site. One of the items unearthed are what Wilfred believes is Japanese bottle fragments found next to human bones.

The site will become the new restaurant for a Chinese-based Ebeye business. The site is located across the public water dispensary and Latter Day Saints Church.
