Christmas cranks up slowly

If you hear the sound of keyboards, loud speakers, and whistles then you know that the Christmas season has arrived.

As in the island way, every year each jepta (chapter or group) gets cranking with dances and songs in preparation for Christmas Day.

If you ever wonder why almost no people are in the household during the week of Christmas, you’ll find them at local churches watching Christmas songs and dances unfold.

Not many groups have been formally practicing, according to our observation of activity around Majuro. However, we spotted the Jenrok ward jepta of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints kicking off its first day of practice last Friday.
