P1 Kwaj talks pause
A series of meetings held this and last week on Ebeye and Kwajalein between President Amata Kabua, the Kwajalein Atoll Corporation leaders, and the landowners in trying to persuade the landowners occupying Kwajalein and other isles to return to Ebeye while negotiations continue was unsuccessful. The dispute between the government and the KAC is over how much rent and atoll development funds the United States should pay them. —Akio Heine

Helly Kajeong broke the annual tournament record with one of Friday’s nine billfish. Then on Saturday, 17 teams helped create the new record of 18 qualifying marlin landed in one day.
