By early March, RMI and US officials anticipate awarding a contract for repair work to begin at the ECC gym in Majuro.
The contact will involve repairs to roof arch beams and stabilization of beams that cannot be repaired in place, according to US officials. The ECC work is being funded by the US.
This means work will get moving to fix the national gymnasium five years after it initially suffered a partial roof collapse in 2011.
Following the initial work, US and RMI construction officials will work to develop an updated course of action to complete the refurbishment of the ECC.
