If you are concerned whether you will miss out on the “Enra” registration because you are off island temporarily, well, great news: Registration will continue at Marshall Islands Social Security Administration office after the current initial two-week registration period ends.
The Enra program is also known as the Universal Basic Income system, which is being put in place to provide all Marshallese citizens living in RMI a quarterly payment. The size of the payment will be determined by the number of people who register.
Hundreds of residents crowded the registration locations in the downtown area beginning Monday, when Enra registration started. But applicants reported that there was virtually no line at the Ajeltake registration site earlier this week.
There was some confusion among applicants about the types of identification needed to register and whether Majuro residents who are off-island for school or medical referrals.
MISSA Administrator Bryan Edejer provided clarity to the Journal Wednesday on different registration issues.
Edejer confirmed this week that Marshallese who are away on medical referrals and scholarship studies may still apply at MISSA even after the November 22 deadline for the mass registration now ongoing.
However, students will need confirmation from the RMI Scholarship Office as part of their registration and patients and companions in medical referrals will need the same from the hospital referral program to qualify for Enra registration and future payments.
In addition, Edejer confirmed that while applicants are advised to bring their social security cards with them, they do not need to physically show their social security cards when applying. This means that people don’t have to purchase new social security cards if they misplaced their old card.
Staff at the registration sites can verify your social security from your RMI identification card, drivers’ license or passport, Edejer said.
