The Marshall Islands has six million reasons to celebrate and here’s why: The Addressing Climate Vulnerability in the Water Sector project or ACWA for short, is slatted to receive six million Euros ($6.5 million) to complement its ongoing water security project throughout the RMI.

This development was confirmed during the pre-agreement ceremony between visiting EU Ambassador to the Pacific Barbara Plinkert and Finance Minister David Paul Wednesday last week.

President Hilda Heine and members of the Cabinet, to include RMI EPA General Manager Moriana Philip, ACWA Project Manager Koji Kumamaru and staff, Chief Secretary Kino Kabua and Deputy Secretary Catalino Kijiner.

The ACWA project has provided water catchments and operated related water security projects in a majority of the communities in the Marshall Islands with a goal to deliver water catchments to 100 percent of the population.

Ongoing projects are continuing while most projects are nearing their final stages like work on Kwajalein, Ujae, Lae, Wotho, Enewetak, and Lib.

ACWA expects the funds to be ready by next month.
