Disabilities Week opened with an event at the Staff Sergeant Solomon Sam Sports Center Monday morning. Floats preceded the event with the Majuro Deaf Education Center (MDEC) winning the $500 grand prize sponsored by parents. President Hilda Heine accompanied Minister of Culture and Internal Affairs, Amenta Matthew, who delivered the event’s keynote address. Talina Peter, a high school student at MDEC, spoke of her hope for a sustainable, resilient society for all.
