“If we are able to feed at least a thousand people this Christmas season, I’d say we did a great job as a team,” Majuro Atoll Local Government Mayor Ladie Jack told the Journal in response to the two-day Christmas program sponsored by MALGov lasts weekend.

Last Friday and Saturday, MALGov held two Christmas programs that included live entertainment followed by food and candy distribution.

The first program took place at the Majuro City Hall in Delap. The event alone invited hundreds to the area, with one lane of the two-way main road at the Amata Kabua Boulevard closed to acclimate the performance and audience. The second program took place the following day at Arrak.

MALGov Council members helped facilitate the event and helped with the food and candy distribution.

Earlier in the week, MALGov announced it would provide candies to children all across Majuro. The event turned out to be bigger than expected as regular food and water was also added to the program, along with the performances from Tiete Labuk Jepta from Rita and Lobat Jepta from Laura.

The best part of the program was the food distribution: as soon as the MC announced for the kids to come forward for the food, the audience size tripled.
