Marshall Islands Police Department’s only fire truck was out of action for several weeks with a pump problem. But it was back at the MIPD Uliga headquarters earlier this week after completing repair work.
It was unavailable to respond to two recent fires, including one at a building behind Ace’s One Stop Saturday. Saturday’s fire, which destroyed the building at the back of the gas station — a second fire in a similar location in the past several years — saw the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) facility team respond to the fire.
MIPD Commissioner George Lanwi told the Journal over the weekend that Ministry of Works, Infrastructure and Utilities mechanics worked on the MIPD fire truck during the past several weeks to get it back in action.
