New AMI plane ready

Air Marshall Islands CEO Captain Albon Jelke stands next to the new Cessna SkyCourier aircraft that will soon be put into service in the Marshall Islands.

The first of two Cessna SkyCourier aircraft for Air Marshall Islands was on display in Wichita, Kansas late last week, with plans to depart this Friday to begin preparation for flying to Majuro.

AMI CEO Captain Albon Jelke was on hand to see the plane in Wichita.

“The aircraft is scheduled to depart Wichita for Las Vegas on April 10,” he said. In Las Vegas, technicians will install ferry fuel tanks in order for the plane to be able to make the flight across the Pacific. The tank installation is expected to take approximately six days, said Jelke.

“The flight will then proceed to Santa Maria, California, for refueling before continuing to Honolulu,” he said.

If this goes according to plan, Jelke estimated the arrival of the plan in Majuro around April 21.
