New students entering College of the Marshall Islands (CMI) is but one of many new things happening at CMI.

Narose Jorren shows that you need a new ID card. Without it, you can’t get your school materials at the bookstore, meals at the on-campus takeout, internet access with the IT Department, and other services. IDs are made at the Media Department.

Another development is students are required to provide a bank account to the Business Office when registering. Reason is many students from previous semesters never came back to pick up there “refund” checks because in most cases the checks were for as little as $2. There’s a pile of outstanding checks. This is a big no-no for CMI. So at the end of this semester, remaining Pell money will be transferred automatically to students’ bank accounts.

Bank of Marshall Islands and Bank of Guam (BOG) have been supportive in helping students open up new accounts.

Many of these new developments are captured in the CMI newsletter.
