The World Bank-funded Urban Resilience Project is targeting a high-risk area in Delap for the construction of a 45-meter (nearly 150-foot) seawall and breakwater.

It is the latest development for the program that is targeting specific locations in Majuro for both safety improvements and beautification work.

Last Wednesday, a groundbreaking ceremony was held on the Delap side of Jitak, at the Eletutu Beach area. Prior to the groundbreaking, a group of VIPs used the Jitak Bar and Grill facility for a ceremony featuring speeches and the unveiling of the construction signage.

This project will: Protect the lagoon road from coastal erosion, support sand accumulation to improve the beach environment, and strengthen coastal resilience for the community in that area.
