While Marshall Islands prepares for a “zero emission” nation by 2050, $4 million dollars is being injected into the country by the Republic of China, Taiwan to be used for loans through the Marshall Islands Development Bank to fund home solar equipment.
The grant would enable homeowners in Majuro, Ebeye, Jaluit and Wotje to purchase solar equipment and energy efficient appliances for their households.
Marshalls Energy Company will act as the link between homeowners and private installers, which according to the National Energy Office at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Commerce, are listed as five private companies.
MEC is tasked to assist homeowners on their purchases.
