WILMER JOEL
The spirit of manit (culture) was palpable nationwide last week.
It was that time of year where everyone got together to venerate Marshallese culture through numerous forms of expression.
Throughout the week, locals were adorned in a variety of stylish and traditional outfits and accessories, adhering to each day’s assigned wear.
Marshallese music was cranking and amplified at loud volume in the schools as students showcased their dances and musical performances.
Traditional knowledge and skills were shared and taught from the elders to youth. Local dishes placed in an enra (traditional woven plate) temporarily replaced the intake of processed foods.
Manit Week was a time of revisiting cultural roots.
