P1 President Kabua in Honolulu to present treaty to US
President Amata Kabua and Attorney General Carl Ingram are in Honolulu to present to US Ambassador Fred Zeder the draft treaty between the United States and the Marshalls. According to RepMar releases, the treaty would recognize the Marshall Islands as independent but would not rule out the idea of free association. The Honolulu meeting will be the first official contact between the Marshalls and the US since talks broke down in Honolulu in December over the nuclear issue.

Not too long ago, one of the local movie theaters showed “She’s 17 and Anxious.” This week, they played “She’s 19 and Ready.” Judging from these two movie titles, we won’t be surprised if they bring “She’s 21 and Eager.” After that, it’s anyone’s guess…We wish simpler movie titles like “Ghandi” are imported instead of these…Is wanting to be a housewife considered an ambition? According to MEC Manager Billy Roberts, when the salt on the wires and poles gets damp, it conducts electricity causing a “Christmas tree-like look” on the pole tops. Several brief outages have been caused by this phenomena. Roberts said MEC is praying for rain.
