RMI Ambassador Neijon Rema Edwards presented her diplomatic credentials to President Tsai Ing-wen last Friday in Taipei.

President Hilda Heine recently appointed her Ambassador of the RMI to the Republic of China (Taiwan).

In remarks at the ceremony, Edwards lauded the excellent relations between the RMI and ROC that have over 20 years developed through increased cooperation in programs such as health and education, fisheries and maritime security, trade and commerce, climate change and environment, as well as through enhanced people-to-people exchanges.

She reconfirmed RMI’s support of Taiwan’s quest to uphold its sovereignty, values of democracy and aspirations to become a member of the international community of nations.

President Tsai welcomed Edwards and pledged Taiwan’s commitment to establish closer relations with a path toward sustainable development. Tsai also commented on the ever-deepening relations between Taiwan and the Marshall Islands as witnessed through the recent signing of agreements for a visa waiver program, coast guard cooperation, and police cooperation.

The event was witnessed by several high-level representatives from the ROC government and Anjanette Kattil of the RMI Embassy in Taiwan.
