Australia signed a grant agreement with Women United Together Marshall Islands this week to support the 24th WUTMI Annual Conference in Majuro that starts this coming Tuesday.

The Annual Conference is a key platform for advancing gender equality, strengthening community resilience, and promoting women’s leadership across the Marshall Islands. It will bring together women leaders, community advocates, and stakeholders from across the islands to discuss critical issues such as domestic violence prevention, women’s health, economic empowerment, and youth engagement.

Under the agreement, Australia will provide $67,000 to enable WUTMI to deliver the conference successfully. The investment delivers on Australia’s commitment to gender equality and advancing the human rights of women and girls. It also reinforces Australia’s long-standing partnership with WUTMI.

“Australia’s proud to support WUTMI’s 24th Annual Conference,” said Australian Ambassador Paul Wilson. “It’s a major annual gathering in RMI and our support represents an important element of our partnership with WUTMI.”

“We are deeply appreciative of the Australian Embassy in Majuro for being on the front line and providing support, as well as truly believing in what we are doing at WUTMI,” said WUTMI President Brenda Alik Heine. “This partnership helps us continue creating spaces for Marshallese women to lead and thrive.”

The conference runs 18-22 November.
