The Regional Rights Resource Team (RRRT) of the Pacific Community (SPC) was established in 1995 and has been a pioneer in providing human rights capacity-building, research, policy, legal and technical assistance in the Pacific region. RRRT’s mission is to advance human rights and good governance standards for the sustainable and equitable development of the region and the benefit of all Pacific peoples.

The role – The Country Program Coordinator – Social Citizenship Education under the Pacific Partnership to End Violence against Women and Girls project will be in charge of providing support, coordination, monitoring and facilitation of the Government of RMI (Public School System) and SPC’s formal and informal education work under the Pacific Partnership to End Violence against Women and Girls project at the national level in RMI.

• Coordinate, provide technical assistance, implement and report on in-country capacity development programs and the development of teaching-learning resources on social citizenship education for schools and school communities in the project pilot sites, involving substantial outer island travel. The activities include consultations, training and mentoring, technical advice, coordination, partnership building, reporting (narrative and financial), communications, and monitoring and evaluation.

1. Qualifications

Masters qualifications from an English-speaking institution in either education, social and gender analysis or development; or Bachelors degree in Education plus 30 hours course work; or second degree in addition to BAED.

2. Essential experience and skills

At least five years’ experience working in the fields of formal or non-formal education, community development, training and assessment, monitoring and evaluation.

Good general knowledge of the Pacific Islands and an understanding of education and broader development challenges.

Proven experience in report writing, analysis, financial and narrative and project proposal writing.

3. Interpersonal & Language skills

Proficiency in English and in Marshallese

Strong skills in networking, cross-cultural liaison and human rights awareness.

Equivalent to PSS Salary level PL 12/1-12/3, salary range of US$ 24,000 – 27,000 per annum (an offer of appointment for initial contract usually will be made in the lower half of this range),  26 days annual leave per annum, sick leaves, medical and life insurance, and access to Social Security (contributing 8% of salary + SPC  matching contribution). SPC salaries are not presently subject to income tax.
