The countdown for the Micronesian Games officially kicked off Tuesday following the Micronesian Games Council’s (MGC)’s visit to Nitijela.

The MGC officials were introduced and recognized during the Nitijela session prior to the showcasing of the countdown platform that was blessed by United Church of Christ Pastor Tim Mea.

The platform, which displays 186 days before the Micro Games, will be positioned on the triangular island in between the old capital building and K&K Island Pride Supermarket.

Earlier in the day, the MGC convened at the Marshall Islands Resort (MIR) where MGC President Aurelio Joab declared the Micro Games will take place during the summer. Aurelio congratulated the organizing committee in his opening remarks.

Minister of Education, Sports and Training Wilbur Heine welcomed the delegation and offered the RMI’s support. Micro Games Chair and member of the Marshall Islands National Olympics Committee and Majuro Parliament Member Tony Muller added that RMI will convince MGC that RMI is ready for the games throughout their planned site visits scheduled for Wednesday.

Delegations from the MGC include officials from: Palau, Kosrae, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Yap, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Kiribati and Nauru.
