HILARY HOSIA
Footage of the gruesome vehicle accident that sent 12-year-old Evangeline “Wutwut” John to the Majuro hospital last Saturday is under review by law enforcement, the child’s mother and National Police Officer Pamela Rubon-Note told the Journal.Wutwut was struck right outside her family store in Batkan while crossing the street.
“She was going to help the next door neighbors prepare for an upcoming birthday party when she got hit,” her mother said. “She was going to perform at the birthday too.”
According to Wutwut’s mother, footage from the store surveillance cameras showed Wutwut to be looking both ways before crossing the street. The same footage, sadly, captured the moment the child’s body came in contact with the incoming vehicle: her head struck the windshield of the car before the girl was hurled several feet in front of the car.
