P1 Hemos Jack big Nitijela winner
Hemos Jack won a landslide victory in Saturday’s six-man race for the vacant Majuro Nitijela seat. He results gave Jack 521 votes, more than double his nearest competitor, Billy Sawej. Albattar Jamodre was third, followed by Leander Jennet, Frank Mojilong and Tony Edwards.
P1 Jacklick wants to build Ebeye community participation
A definite sense of well-being is evident on this tiny over-populated islet which serves as a workers sleep camp for the big island of Kwajalein. The up-looking attitude is surprising since it occurs in what one would assume was an overdone movie scene for a Pacific slum. The cause of the new bracing stance is one of Ebeye’s favorite sons, the newly elected Mayor Alvin Jacklick. What you hear (on Ebeye) is Alvin Jacklick is a new element on the island and almost everyone is looking to him to do something dramatic. It sure is needed.
P8 AMI to make first international flight
Air Marshall Islands next week will make its first entry into international service with a charter for the Nauru Phosphate Company. AMI will use its 748 aircraft on 8 June to take laborers fro Nauru to Funafuti, capital of Tuvalu, and take others back to Nauru, according to Tom Greene, manager of AMI.

P3 President Kabua leads big group to summit
President Amata Kabua left Majuro Tuesday, heading a large delegation of Marshalls officials who will attend the global environment summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The UN Conference on the Environment and Development is bringing together thousands of government leaders and environmentalists for 10 days of meetings and debate on what can be done to improve the world environmental outlook.
P12 Rain drops keep falling
For the first time in five months, Majuro doesn’t have a water shortage. The Majuro Water and Sewer Company is keeping the city water pouring through the lines from morning until night, interrupting the service only as requirement to repairs leaks. MWSC reported about eight million gallons in the airport reservoir, which holds 22 million gallons.
P20 Baron wins fifth tournament
“Beyond the incredible,” is the way Baron Bigler’s string of consecutive fishing tournament triumphs is being described by other fishermen. Bigler, who teams with Ronnie Reimers, Stephen Phillip and, in the last two tourneys, American Ambassador William Bodde on Jinekjij, did it again Saturday.

P10 Students graduate from Xavier
Six Marshallese students, all from Ebeye, took part in Xavier High Schools class of 2012 commencement exercises in Chuuk on June 1. The six were among 33 students from RMI, FSM, Palau and the Philippines graduating. The six Marshallese are Alexander Capelle, Judina M. Korok (honors), Laura Korwan (honors), David Lelet, Jean Malolo (honors) and Andy L. Sakaio (honors).
P18 Students, families enjoy grad season
Majuro Coop School held its first high school graduation Saturday with a big crowd filling its lawn area and cafeteria to celebrate with the 12 graduates. The stage area was brilliantly decorated, providing a fitting backdrop to an event that, as school Superintendent Kathy Stratte said, took four years of hard work by the Delap school to produce. Articulate speeches, songs and tears highlighted the event.
