Several of the island’s top bands and dancers performed during last week’s Luttok Kobban Alele festivities.

Ten bands — the Ladudu Band, Pinnin Matolen, Lijaanbaru, Al in Majel (AIM) Band, LiErwa Band, Moriba, CMI Production, Brothers Band, Kajoor Wot Wor, and Kitwon Jota — competed in the Battle of the Bands, which was a three-day event. The bands were from Majuro, Ellep, Jaluit, Aur, KBE, Arno, Epoon, and Maloelap.

The judges were prominent figures in the local music industry: Salome Andrike, Daniel Kramer, Marton Baso, Suawa Laninbelik, and Lydia Tibon.

Kitwon Jota from Majuro took first place, runner-up and the People’s Choice Award is Al in Majel from Epoon, and third place went to Brothers Band from Maloelap.

Moriba, Kitwon Jota, Ekamormor, and Kajoor Wot Wor were the four local dance groups from Majuro and KBE that participated in the dancing competition. The judges for this all-day last Thursday competition were Rosania Alfred-Bennett, Suawa Laninbelik, Chita Mares, and Salome Andrike.

The winner of the dance competition is Kajoor Wot Wor from Majuro, runner up and People’s Choice KBE Moriba, and third place Majuro Ekamormor.
