A big turnout of anglers is anticipated for this weekend’s 27th Budweiser All-Micronesia Fishing Tournament.

A total of 26 teams confirmed their participation in the two-day earlier this week. “Teams from as far as Japan in the North to Australia in the South” are expected, said Marshalls Billfish Club President Larry Hernandez, Jr.

Team Tahiti won last year’s All-Mike tournament with three marlin, including the biggest at 498 pounds.

Representing the Marshalls will be the winners from MBC’s 37th annual tournament this past July fishing on different boats: Captain Ronnie Reimers, the Atjang Paul winner, and Bwiji Aliven, the President’s Cup winner.

Friday’s tournament registration is at RRE’s Jikotaak BBQ area. Miss All-Micronesia Vaimoli Reimers Bigler will be on hand to welcome the teams at the event, and to welcome the anglers at the weigh ins on Saturday and Sunday, September 7 and 8, late afternoon at Uliga Dock.

The tourney concludes with the 27th Annual Budweiser All-Micronesia awards banquet at the Marshall Islands Resort poolside Monday night.
