Close to three months ago, 14 brave souls departed on a mission, destination Taiwan. On Christmas Day, the group will finally hug their loved ones following completion of the 2018 Vocational Training Project for Pacific Countries sponsored by the ROC/Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund.
The course brought together trainees from Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Nauru and Tuvalu to engage in hands-on IT equipment applications and maintenance, motor vehicle mechanics, and refrigeration, plumbing and air condition trainings.
The Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch Workforce Development Agency under the Ministry of Labor supervised the project.
Name of trainees and their respective fields:
• IT Equipment Applications and Maintenance: Stephen Loeak (NTA), Charleston Maddison (NTA), Maynard Loeak (BOMI), Dyron Lanwi (CMI) and Jakio Lanwe (Ebeye MOE).
• Motor Vehicle Mechanics: Daniel Jatios (Ebeye Stevedore), Atjang Paul, Jr (NTA) and Danny Joel (Public Works).
• Refrigeration, Plumbing and Air Condition: Wijji Alberttar (MWSC), Rizal Chee (Public Works), Aaron Botla (Public Works), Rien Hansen (MOE), Donald Riklon (USP) and Caster Samuel (MWSC).
