Bank of Marshall Islands celebrated 33 years of operations last Thursday with dancing, a huge cake and by giving away local products from Tobolar and RRE.
Ebeye branch manager and Vice President Hermai Makroro marked the occasion by announcing that next year would see the start of construction of the bank’s proposed new bank building in Delap.
Operations Manager Kakom Paul said the bank, as part of its scholarship program for local students, will be funding Dallen Jennet to attend Majuro Coop School after he returned later this month from New York, where he underwent multiple surgeries and follow up to rebuild his face, which was severely damaged by a power line. BOMI President Patrick Chen presented a tuition check to Coop principals Chelsea Armstrong and Kristin Olson.
Chief Information Officer James McLean, VP Makroro, and President Chen cut a large 33rd birthday cake as part of the celebration with customers who packed the bank.
BOMI staff put on several lively dances that had the standing-room only crowd cheering and clapping.
