Kili goes dark for a week

A small boat offloads goods from a government-chartered Pacific International Inc. vessel carrying fuel and food to Kili earlier this week.

Kili has gone seven days without electricity since early last week when the power plant ran out of fuel.

Kili has been experiencing electricity rationing since January due to depletion of the Bikini Resettlement Trust Fund, which has funded local government operations at Kili for decades.

Bikini Mayor Anderson Jibas said fuel finally reached Kili Monday this week. Anderson said he worked with the national government and Ministry of Culture and Internal Affairs to ensure a delivery of fuel, food and materials made it to Kili.

A PII vessel was chartered by the RMI government using Ministry of CIA funding from the Taiwan Embassy for the delivery.
