LSA focuses on skills

Learning handicraft skills at LSA during Manit Week involved making the skirt of the school’s representative for the Joormaan Show, Trickson Jieta. The skirt was produced using material from coconut fronds. From left: Student Nikki Balos, Teacher Ashken Binat, and students April Lorennij and Mieola  Betwell. Photo: Jayann V. Taala.

Life Skills Academy students learn a wide range of skills. Aside from academic studies, there is a strong focus on vocational skills.

The school has active electrical and carpentry programs, sewing, and handicraft making classes that provide students with an introduction to these vocations that can translate into earning money.

The school also spent time preparing for its involvement in Manit (Culture) Week, the last week of September.

This involved craft making and webbing sessions.
