Whoever said that the Majuro Day spirit is dead was proven wrong last weekend when many gathered at Laura Ball Field to join in the fun.

This year Majuro Day games were the basketball championship games for men and women, won by Uliga men and Rairok women. Track and field events featured 100 and 200 meter sprints, javelin, shot put, discuss throw and relay race of 100 meters.

Traditional games included tug of war, juggling, weaving baskets and husking coconuts. There were free BBQ plates and drinks at every tent. Uliga women and Woja men won the tug of war.

Police officers did their part going around to make sure people were keeping six feet apart.

In basketball, Uliga knocked off Ajeltake and Rairok beat Lobat for top honors. During the girls game it was obvious that both teams did not want to lose. It got heated quickly and was exciting to watch. The boys game was attention grabbing that the crowd was quiet and focused.
