Majuro march targets domestic violence

The message of the September 24 march through downtown Majuro was broadcast loud and clear by this banner: “Stop violence against women and girls.” Photo: Eve Burns.

A march against domestic violence and substance abuse was sponsored and organized by many NGOs and government-related donor partners on September 24 in Majuro. The silent peace walk generated a great turn out.

Many showed up to demonstrate support by either walking from the RRE area to Delap Park or from MAWC in Batkan to Delap Park. Activities in the park followed the march.

The sponsors of the event included Women United Together Marshall Islands, KIO Club, Ministry of Health and Human Services, World Health Organization, Taiwan, AusAID Pacific Women Shaping Development, College of the Marshall Islands, and Marshall Islands Epidemiological and Prevention Initiatives.
