Miss Marshall Islands Billma Peter is preparing to be the first Marshall Islands contestant in the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant that is being held from November 23 to December 1 in Papua New Guinea.

This week Wednesday, the Office of Commerce, Investment and Tourism (OCIT) sponsored a morning practice session for Peter to field questions about regional issues in the Pacific as part of preparing for the pageant contest.Contestants’ awareness and knowledge of contemporary regional issues will carry significant weight in the judges’ decisions, said OCIT Chief Executive Officer Carlos Domnick. He said Peter needs to be well-prepared for the pageant, which is why OCIT sponsored the “mock interview session” for Peter this week.

OCIT invited local authorities on education, health culture, climate, women’s empowerment, technology, environment, youth and tourism to question Peter in the mock session.
