The long-awaited Miss Pacific Islands Pageant got underway last weekend with the arrival of Miss Marshall Islands Claret Chong Gum and five of the six other contestants in Nauru.

A total of seven, including Miss Nauru, are competing for this year’s crown. Miss Papua New Guinea won the crown last year and is part of the event in Nauru.

The contest will culminate this Saturday with the awarding ceremony.

Claret won the Miss Marshall Islands contest in February last year.
