A groundbreaking ceremony was held at Rita Elementary School on April 13, marking the start of construction for new Early Childhood Education classrooms at both Rita and Ajeltake Elementary Schools.
The event, held during the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Week opening ceremony, also signaled the start of work on the PSS Early Childhood Development storage facility at MIHS.
This initiative is being carried out in partnership with the World Bank-funded Early Childhood Development Project II.
AC Construction, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works, has begun mobilizing on these new facilities to accommodate a public preschool population that has doubled since the program’s launch in late 2022.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with the new classrooms scheduled to be open to students in January 2027.
“We would like to thank our partners, especially ECD, World Bank, AC Construction, MWUI and MOF-DIDA, for the support to help create safe classrooms for our preschool students to learn, grow, and thrive,” stated Associate Commissioner Theresa Kijiner for Early Childhood Education at PSS.
