The RMI Embassy in Taipei was pleased to attend the Residency Program Completion and White Coat Ceremony honoring Dr. Francis Hicking at Shuang Ho Hospital last week.
Ambassador Anjanette Kattil attended the ceremony alongside the Wilbur Heine, Chairman of the Nitijela Health, Education, and Social Affairs Committee. Nitijela Member from Kwajalein Irooj Drile Kabua also attended.
The RMI delegation also included Daisy Pedro, Interim Deputy Secretary for Clinical Services, and Dr. Robert Maddison, Chief of Staff and Director of Clinical Services, Ministry of Health and Human Services.
Delivering remarks on behalf of President Hilda C. Heine, Chairman Heine noted that Dr. Hicking’s achievement was a proud moment for the Marshall Islands and highlights the success of the strong partnership between the Ministry of Health and Human Services and Shuang Ho Hospital and that Dr. Hicking’s specialized training will contribute significantly to strengthening healthcare services for the Marshallese people.
Remarks were also delivered by Deputy Director-General Richard Liu on behalf of Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director Chih of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Vice Superintendent of Shuang Ho Hospital, and Dr. Hicking.
Dr. Hicking is the third Marshallese physician to complete residency training at Shuang Ho Hospital and is the newest Marshallese specialist in Internal Medicine.
Ambassador Kattil extended the RMI’s warmest congratulations to Dr. Hicking and expressed her sincere appreciation to the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Shuang Ho Hospital, and all partners supporting the continued development of healthcare professionals in the Marshall Islands.
