Eighty-two students from the sixth grade at Rita Elementary School who were promoted to middle school status received certificates and awards last Friday under the theme: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:12).

Out of the four sections, two students emerged with the top grade point average. The students are Rose-Wena Tawaj of Section B (95.37 percent) and Alice Elanzo of Section A (95 percent). They were awarded envelopes with prize money from Rita Councilmen Arlington Tibon and Hansen Kaisha.

During the promotion, Mercy Bomade from Section A was acknowledged as the student who will represent the school in a two-week exchange program in Japan, which is sponsored by the National Institution For Youth Education of Japan. Areyochi deBrum of the Assembly of God Church bestowed the blessing on the outgoing RES students.

The fact that the master of ceremonies, prayers, and welcoming remark were delivered by the students made the event unique.
