Kirenwut Anjain, known for her dedication for hands-on management of a large community garden on Mejatto Island in Kwajalein Atoll, has received global recognition for her agriculture efforts.
She was selected as one the inaugural 100 Women Heroes in the Agrifood System and Rural Development by United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
Her selection followed a highly competitive global process that attracted more than 600 nominations from over 131 countries, reflecting the extraordinary achievement of women across the world.
Mejatto is home to Rongelap Islanders displaced because of concern over exposure to radiation from nuclear weapons testing fallout on the northern atoll.
