Supreme’s review multiple disputes

The Marshall Islands Supreme Court had a busy two-day session last week, with seven appeals on the table for review by the three-judge panel.

Chief Justice Daniel Cadra was joined by two Associate Justices J. Michael Seabright and Richard Seeborg.

Two appeals related to Iroojlaplap Mike Kabua’s case before the High Court challenging Council of Irooj election of Irooj Lanny Kabua, and the challenge to the legality of approving the Compact of Free Association without a plebiscite that was filed by Nitijela Members Mike Halferty, Drile Kilinwojke Kabua and Wallace Peter in 2024.

There were several land disputes:

  • Darrel Malachi vs Terry Abon.
  • Harrington Dribo et al vs Bernie Hitto et al
  • Jack Jorbon vs Robinson Abner
  • Cansee Jorkan Alik vs Robinson Abner.

The final case was dispute between offshore companies registered in the Marshall Islands: Sphinx Investment Corp. RMI Corp. vs Stamatis Tsantanis, Christina Anagnostara, Dimitrios et al.
