The Taiwan Navy squadron steamed into town this week for its annual several day visit to the capital city.

Majuro will see the three-vessel navy squadron at the start and finish of its three-month training exercise that will take it to Central America. This week’s stop in Majuro is the first visit for the Republic of China navy group. The goodwill visit started Wednesday and runs through Friday this week, with 750 navy officers, midshipmen and sailors on board the three vessels. The Taiwan Embassy and the national government organized a welcome ceremony at Delap Dock on arrival Wednesday.

The squadron is headed by Rear Admiral Chia-Bin Kao, who is on the flagship Pan-Shi. Two frigates, the Kuen-Ming and the Pan-Chao, are accompanying the flag ship.

The squadron’s Honor Guards, Drum and Bugle Marching Band and Marine Corps Chikwondo Team will perform at Delap Park Thursday 4pm for the public.

On its return from Central America in May, the three vessels will stop in Majuro again.
