Hundreds of “mobility devices” in the form of wheelchairs, crutches, walkers and canes were donated to the Ministry of Health and Human Services last month by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The donation was delivered by Elder Mark and Sister Diane Nelson, who are the RMI LDS Humanitarian Coordinators.
LDS Stake President David Betti spoke, Assistant Secretary Edlen Anzures expressed the ministry’s appreciation for the donation, and the event was blessed by Pastor Nowel Delis.
Elder Mark explained that globally, the humanitarian arm of the LDS Church donated over $1 billion. In the RMI, the LDS relationship with the ministry’s Rehab Department started in 2008. Since that time, over 2,000 wheelchairs and 3,000 walking aids were donated to Rehab, he said.
