Despite the regular presence over the past six weeks of up to six tuna transshipment carrier vessels in Majuro lagoon, fish transfers have continued at a slow pace.

The September transshipment report shows only eight transshipments, the second time this year that transshipments fell to single digits, according to the monthly report provided by the Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority’s Oceanic Division.

One of the eight was a dockside unloading.

The other seven were to carrier vessels in the lagoon.

FSM and Nauru flagged purse seiners accounted for three transshipments each, while Marshall Islands and Taiwan vessels had one each.

The September total brings to 131 total transshipments for the first nine months of the year, an average of 14.5 transshipments per month.
