New RMI Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Catalino Kijiner formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE during a credential presentation ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.
The presentation of credentials marks a milestone in the diplomatic relations between the RMI and the United Arab Emirates, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to strengthening friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kijiner conveyed to Sheikh Mohamed the warmest greetings and best wishes of President Dr. Hilda C. Heine and the people of the Marshall Islands.
Ambassador Kijiner expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by the president and for the UAE’s continued commitment to strengthening its engagement with Pacific Island countries and Small Island Developing States.
Sheikh Mohamed welcomed Ambassador Kijiner and his family and the staff of the Embassy and wished him success in his diplomatic mission.
Kijiner sought the president’s permission for his plans to undertake official visits to the six remaining Emirates — Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.
The visits form part of the Ambassador’s efforts to broaden his engagement across the United Arab Emirates, deepen mutual understanding, and further strengthen the bonds of friendship, cooperation and partnership between the RMI and the UAE.
Following the diplomatic credentials ceremony, the new RMI embassy held its first-ever flag-raising ceremony in front of the embassy.
