More than 50 Upward Bound students moved into the dorms at the College of the Marshall Islands Arrak Campus last month.

This is the first time in three years that their summer program has resumed at Arrak after it was used as a quarantine facility. The students attend eight-hour summer classes from Monday through Thursday before going home for the weekend.

The UB program’s high school graduates attend their college classes on the Uliga campus before returning to their dorms in the evening.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are covered. There are after-school activities that engage students in physical fitness. College graduates hired by the program work as resident assistants in each dorm facility, caring for the students and responding to their medical needs.

In the program’s most recent activity, UB Director John Zedkaia and his group of students and staff are embarking on a three-day camping trip to Eneko. The summer program concludes in three weeks.
